You know this problem: You have installed a Today Plugin, but you would like to de-install it. But that doesn´t work with lots of Plugins, because the DLL of the Plugin is still in use Use this utility to uninstall the Today Plugin that cannot be removed by “Remove Programs”.

How Today Plugin Uninstallation works
- Today Plugin DLLs are loaded during the Pocket PC boot & they are never unloaded (even when you deactive the particular plugin)
- The uninstaller has to remove the related registry entries (the DLL is however still unloaded from the memory)
- A Soft-reset may be required to finish the process (or) a particular Windows Message has to be posted to reload the today plugins which will release the DLL without requiring a Soft-reset.

Cleaning your Today Screen
- As Today Plugin DLLs are loaded during the Pocket PC boot & they are never unloaded, some times normal Uninstallation process may not uninstall the Today Plugin as the DLL is still in use
- Use Today Plugin Uninstaller in such cases, where developer has failed to provided a successful uninstall script.

- Unregister the DLL
- Change/Delete the registry Path
- Soft-reset the Device in order to completely unload the DLL from the memory
- Install the new DLL after soft-reset.
- Use Today Plugin Uninstaller during Today Plugin Development, where you don’t have to soft-reset everytime.

[...] Shadow too much, LE too little? A suggestion
! – Today, 06:43 PM Today Plugin Uninstaller 2.0 I’ve used Shadow since release and I really love it! It’s got an amazing level of integration from the Today screen to the HTCaudio player to the Phone Dialer… the consistent look and feel is terrific! But… I must admit that the posts on the LE version made me jealous… faster and with more available memory? How can one not want that ! And… I am using a group of commercial apps instead of some of the core Shadow functions. Like… The HTChome plug-in just takes up too much Today screen real estate and I use PhoneAlarm, Pocketbreeze, iLauncher and PocketWeather to do more in less space. So LE seemed a natural… but there were some items that I didn’t want to give up… HTCaudio, WMP for mp3 ringtones, etc. So I was looking for some way to remove from Shadow rather than add to LE. And I discovered the Today Plugin Uninstaller from PDAgear.net. It removes Today Screen plug-ins and their associated dll’s freeing up memory and making the phone operate faster ! I removed the HTChome, internet calling and wireless plugins and noticed ~2mb more memory on reboot ! Can’t comment yet on the "faster" part… Shadow is really quick to begin with, but just made the change so more use may tell. I think there’s a freeware version of the Uninstall app around, though I went ahead and purchased v2.0 at $3.99. Anyway, something others may find useful. [...]
